List: 10 controversial, non-Confederate monuments and statues
Historic monuments and statues have been vandalized and defaced during Black Lives Matter protests. But these anti racial lightning rods have moved way past Confederate statues, amid a steady stream of protests rooted in the fight against racial injustice and police violence. Other statues and monuments of figures associated with racism and cruelty towards Native Americans are being desecrated, including former U.S. presidents.
According to a recent Just the News poll with Scott Rasmussen, a strong majority of voters oppose tearing down statues honoring George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Abraham Lincoln. Some statues are being moved into museums, others are being removed completely, and a few have uncertain fates.
