2007 Workforce Services Finds 20,000 Utahns Victims Of Identity Theft

In 2007, Workforce Services estimated that 20,000 Utahns had compromised Social Security numbers. The figure is limited to Workforce Services data alone which indicates that a much larger number of Utahns (that is, the general population) are victims of identity theft.
The report also notes that one of the biggest generators for demand of stolen or fraudulent identities are illegal immigrants.
