Pt 2: Lessons From Aaron’s Staff

We looked yesterday at how Aaron’s staff miraculously turned into a snake. Yet we will see in the rest of chapter 7 how Moses and Aaron’s instant obedience played a crucial role in God miraculously using them.

Up to a certain point the Egyptian magicians could counterfeit some of these miracles. Yet eventually were unable to. Pharaoh surrounded himself with people like the magicians who tried to contradict God’s miracles and messages. So many today to want to find reasons not to believe God and will use various means to try to “prove” he is not real- just like Pharaoh had his sorcerers do.

Eventually though the sorcerers got scared and acknowledged it was the finger of God, but Pharaoh kept hardening his heart and basically saying “I would rather suffer horrible plagues before I ever acknowledge you are truly in charge.”

Many in our day to will harden their hearts with pride and would rather perish eternally then ever submit to a God they do not want to serve.
