In 2009 Election Systems & Software acquired Premier Election Solutions. Soon after the Department of Justice filed a civil antitrust lawsuit against ES&S, requiring it to divest voting equipment systems assets it acquired from Premier Election Solutions. The company then sold the assets to Dominion Voting Systems.
