Episode #318 - The Truth About the Gospel According to Mark - Chapters 10-16
The Truth Quest Podcast
The Gospel According to Mark was likely written by John Mark a writer/companion of Peter. It was most likely written in Rome in the mid- to late 50’s A.D.
It is the shortest of the four Gospels; known for its concise, fast-paced narrative, focusing more on what Jesus did rather than long discourses.

Episode #183 - The Truth About Liberals, Atheists and Happiness
The Truth Quest Podcast
For decades, polls and studies have demonstrated that conservatives are happier than liberals. In this episode, we explore the reasons why this is the case and, along the way, we examine how atheists fit into the picture.

Episode #5 - The Truth About the Resurrection of Jesus Christ
The Truth Quest Podcast
Today I am going to lay out facts about this historical event – the resurrection of a man known as Jesus of Nazareth. For those of you who are Christians, I believe this conversation will bolster your faith. After all, without the resurrection, Christianity is nothing; our faith is futile. 1 Corinthians 15:17
For those of you who are atheists, agnostics, undecided and anywhere in between, just consider this an ancient history lesson and simply ingest what I share. Perhaps it will change or tilt your heart in His direction.

Episode #10 - The Truth About God and Evil
The Truth Quest Podcast
Let's be honest, if you are looking for a reason not to believe in God, the world is more than willing to supply you with one - the existence of evil is just one of many. It also happens to be one of the more persuasive reasons. Atheists, agnostics, and non-Christians complain all the time about how “harsh” and “evil” the God of the Old Testament appears to be. And the ever-present question of how can a good God allow so much cruelty to exist is a legitimate question worthy of an answer.
My intent with this episode is to present you with information that I have come across over the years as I continued my truth quest in regards to the question of God and evil. At this point in my journey, I feel like I know about three-quarters of the story. There are still areas where I am not clear but, perhaps this episode will spark some discussion on the Truth Quest Facebook page and you can help fill me in on the rest of the story.

Episode #22 - The Truth About Jesus Christ
The Truth Quest Podcast
This is the fourth episode focusing on a Christian apologetic topic. In Episode #5 we talked about The Truth About the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. In Episode #10, we covered The Truth About God and Evil and in Episode #15 we talked about The Truth About Prayer.
What I want to talk to you about today is the remarkable (and dare I say, miraculous) story of a carpenter named Jesus from a map dot in the middle of the Middle East who lived over 2,000 years ago and the truth about the impact He left on the world.
I’ve heard Jesus Christ called a lot of things but the most accurate word is “radical”. Let me know if you agree after listening to this episode.

Episode #35 - The Truth About the Existence of God
The Truth Quest Podcast
Proving God’s existence or the fact that Jesus rose from the dead, will never be proven in a manner we are all familiar with from watching TV legal dramas – beyond a reasonable doubt. However, I have found Frank Turek and Norman Geisler’s approach to apologetics most helpful. Specifically their approach in their best seller I Don’t Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist.
In today’s episode, I am going to present three arguments for the existence of God: (1) The Cosmological Argument, which argues that since the universe had a beginning something had to be the cause. The most logical explanation is that that "something" is God. (2) The Anthropic Principle which is the idea that the complexity of the universe proves the God exists and; (3) The Teleological Argument which reasons that the best explanation for the complex fine-tuning of the universe and life on Earth is an Intelligent Designer (or God).

Episode #15 - The Truth About Prayer
The Truth Quest Podcast
In this episode we explore what prayer is and how we are supposed to approach it. Tim Keller's book, Prayer and Oswald Chamber's daily devotional, My Utmost for His Highest serve as my primary sources. We cover St. Augustine, Martin Luther, and John Calvin's advice on prayer. We take a closer look at the model prayer given by Jesus, The Lord's Prayer. We also discuss intercessory prayer, the idea of "Thy Will Be Done", meditation, the Holy Spirit and praying in Jesus' name. Hope you enjoy.

Episode #26 - The Truth About the Judeo-Christian Tradition
The Truth Quest Podcast
As I thought ahead to the publication of this week’s episode, I noticed that it would fall on the week of Christmas. I glanced up at my bookshelf and pulled down my copy of In Defense of Faith by David Brog and I realized the message Brog presents in that book was a perfect foundation from which to base this week’s episode on.
Brog describes his book’s purpose as a rebuttal to the claim that people of faith are responsible for our greatest sorrows, bloodshed, war, hatred. His primary message is the Judeo-Christian tradition has been an overwhelming force for good throughout history with its message of equality and sanctity of all humans combined with the call to love one another. It’s the idea that all humans are made in the image of God and, therefore, are worthy of respect.
When you look at the atrocities committed in the world over time, you will notice that most of them were perpetrated with a purposeful rejection of the Judeo-Christian tradition.

Episode #30 - The Truth About the New Testament - Is it historically reliable
The Truth Quest Podcast
When I first started studying Christian apologetics someone gave me a copy of I Don’t Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist by Frank Turek and Norman Geisler. If you read just one book this year and you are curious about Christianity or looking to bolster your current faith or, for that matter, you are a skeptic of Christianity, I cannot encourage you enough to read this book. One of the most profound insights I ever got into Christianity came from Chapters 9-12, which covers the historical reliability of the New Testament. Much of what I discuss in today’s episode comes from these three chapters. I hope you find it as profound as I did.

Episode #40 - The Truth About Islam, Christianity and Judaism
The Truth Quest Podcast
Regular listeners know that I attempt to record a Christian apologetic-related topic in every once in awhile. Today I compare and contrast the three major monotheistic world religions - Islam, Christianity and Judaism. They have a lot in common, which may be eye-opening to many. However, it is their divergences that really matter.
The bottom line is if one of them is true, the other two cannot be. It's great food for thought. I hope this episode prompts you to dig a little deeper in your faith or lack thereof.

Episode #48 - The Truth About Wisdom - Biblically Speaking
The Truth Quest Podcast
Several years ago I wrote the book, The Proverbs Project. My goal was to bring the content of the Old Testament book of Proverbs to life in a manner in which the average person could easily consume and apply to their life. I went through Proverbs verse-by-verse assigning a theme for each of the 900 verses. I identified 150 themes, which were then grouped into 9 general categories. These 9 categories became the chapters of the book.
Authorship of the book of Proverbs is largely attributed to King Solomon who was the son of King David. Solomon is thought to have been the richest and wisest man to ever live.
Wisdom, which is the major theme of the book of Proverbs, is the subject of Episodes 48 and 49. In this episode I cover most of the wisdom-related topics presented in Proverbs including: advice, correction, discernment, discipline, instruction, knowledge, planning, and prudence. In the next episode, I walk you through Solomon’s insightful explanation of how wisdom is applied by different types of people namely the fool, the mocker, and the simple.

Episode #77 - The Truth About the Good News
The Truth Quest Podcast
As Christmas approaches, I am reading the Book of Luke. As I read the first few chapters, three words kept jumping off the page - “THE GOOD NEWS”. Inherently, I think most Christians know what this means or, at least they think they know what it means. But the more I thought about it, the more I questioned myself. So I thought a deep-dive was in order.
2:30-4:23 -- "good news" scriptures
4:24-8:10 -- "THE GOOD NEWS" scriptures
8:10-9:46 -- Hebrews - Old Testament / New Testament
9:46-11:24 -- "THE GOOD NEWS" and "the gospel"
11:24-13:24 -- What is "THE GOOD NEWS"?
13:24-end -- Conclusion
