Fallout 4 - Provisioners and Their Paths

Most of the provisioners in the Fallout 4 game have some kind of circuitous land route they can take to get to their destination. But what about the route to Spectacle Island? How do you get supplies to and from there? I was lucky enough to be on hand to catch this in action from start to finish. I just knew some kind of warping was involved.
