Trauma does not merely wound, it scars. Abuse inflicted in a betrayal of trust, cuts the deepest. In the darkest night, a fresh scab may crack and bleed dreadful thoughts, forcing us to face our fear that escape is impossible, and that no lock is strong enough to hold back the monster.
