DIXIE ROLENE WILKINSON
Dixie passed away April 18, 2013 after a 10 month battle with pancreatic cancer at her home in Colorado Springs. Dixie was born in Canon City, Colorado on August 25, 1944.
Dixie is survived by three daughters: Otsalee Gillenwater, Kimberly Lindsay (Brad), Paige Hunt (Michael). Eight grandkids: Dana (Steve) Swiss, Debra Gillenwater, Douglas Gillenwater, Heather Hunt, Tiffany Koldenhoven (Travis), Alisa Lindsay, Katie Gillenwater, Carl Lindsay. Six great grandkids: Samantha Swiss, Emily Swiss, Riley Jo Gillenwater, Mackenzie Gillenwater, Hayden Koldenhoven, Bentley Hunt. Dixie is also survived by her ex-husband Clyde Wilkinson (Maxine), her mother Lavada Stelter and siblings: Jay, Brenda (Murllin), Eric (Debbie), Herlinda, Verlene (Robert). Dixie is also survived by Uncle Lonnie (Mona) and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family in Wisconsin and New York and caring friends. Dixie was preceded in death by her dad James Stelter and sister-in-law Prescilla Stelter.
Dixie loved spending time with her daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren more than anything. She loved John Wayne, to dance, travel, entertain, quilt, her dachshunds (Takoja, Vienna and Noodles) and even ran in a mud run. She was always up for any adventure her girls or grandkids had in mind. Dixie worked at PPCC for 23 years as a data specialist. She also volunteered with the Sheriff’s Office and State Patrol as a Victim’s Advocate. Dixie was always there when someone needed her.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dixie Wilkinson’s name to Pikes Peak Hospice 2550 Tenderfoot Hill Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80906 or to PANCAN.ORG for pancreatic cancer research. There will be a Celebration of Life and reception on May 18th at 1:00 at the International Dance Club, 2422 Busch Avenue, Colorado Springs 80904.
