Dr. Marcin Jakubowski, founder of Open Source Ecology, has created the Global Village Construction Set, 50 open source hardware machines that cost 10-20 percent of what proprietary Western equivalents cost, and have zero waste in their life cycle. His ideas could lift the five billion poor up (for example, an open source tractor is affordable by those who can only afford oxen or donkeys today).
