PCR検査は、本当に感染症の診断に使えるのでしょうか。この点に関して議論が必要です。PCRは、遺伝子を増幅する技術です。病原体の遺伝子を増幅すれば、感染症の診断に使えるはずです。問題は、増やそうとする遺伝子が、病原体かどうかわからないという点です。
　しかし、今回の感染症の病原体ウイルスと考えられている遺伝子配列は、本当に病原体ウイルスなのでしょうか。また、このウイルスには、多くの変異体が存在することが報告されていますが、それぞれどのような違いがあるのでしょうか。誰かが、実験的に病原性を調べたのでしょうか。
　病原体であることを確認する方法として、コッホの４原則が知られています。この４原則のすべてを満たすことは重要ですが、そのうちの第一項である「一定の病気には一定の微生物が見いだされる」ということすら、今回の場合は満足に満たしていないのです。つまり、病気に特有の症状の発現に十分なウイルス量が確認される必要があるということです。PCRの特性である高度の遺伝子増幅をしないと確認できないようなウイルス量では、病気に特有な症状を発現するには十分ではありません。
　PCRを使わないと検出できないような遺伝子が、病原体であると診断することは、誤診につながることに注意が必要です。PCR検査が、健常者を感染者のラベルを張り隔離することや、感染症の拡大と称して騒動につながる可能性を十分に検討するべきなのです。子供たちを巻き込んで、問題をさらに大きくしかねないのです。地方自治体における安易なPCR検査体制の拡大は危険だということを、住民の間で十分に議論していくことが必要だと思います。

The four principles of Koch are known as a method of confirming that it is a pathogen. This means that the viral load must be confirmed to be sufficient for the onset of disease-specific symptoms. Viral loads that cannot be confirmed without the high degree of gene amplification that is characteristic of PCR are not sufficient to develop disease-specific symptoms.
It should be noted that diagnosing a gene that cannot be detected without PCR as a pathogen leads to misdiagnosis. Care should be taken to consider the possibility that PCR testing could label healthy individuals and isolate them, or lead to turmoil in the name of spreading the infection. It can involve children and make the problem even bigger. I think it is necessary for the residents to fully discuss that it is dangerous to expand the easy PCR testing system in local governments.
