科学は、観察から始まります。騒動に関して、何を観るべきかということですが、一番確実なものとは何かを絞り込みます。物事の論理展開の基本となる部分です。仮説を立てるためには、何を観るかが重要なポイントになります。今回の騒動の主役は、ウイルスのはずですが、ウイルスは目に見えません。電顕写真は、ウイルスと言えるか、あるいは今回問題のウイルスなのかを同定することは出来ません。ウイルスの確認をする手段として、PCRが使われています。PCRは、中国論文の遺伝子情報を基に設計されたプライマーを用いています。
　今回の騒動で一番確実なのは、中国論文の遺伝子情報を用いたPCR検査が、全世界で始まったという事実です。ここから、問題のウイルスがいるとか、全世界に急速に広まったとかいう話は、PCRによって作られた仮説です。PCRは、問題のウイルスを検出しているというのは、仮説です。クローン化によって、ウイルスが純化されていないので、確認が出来ていません。
　PCRによって、無症状者が感染源になるという話も作られていますが、これも仮説です。実際にウイルスの確認を実証実験でしたわけではありません。仮説を立てた後で実証実験をして、仮説の正しさを検証する必要があるのですが、実証実験がされていません。仮説に仮説を重ねて作られた話です。仮説に過ぎないこの話が、事実のように報道が繰り返された結果、マスク社会になったわけです。
　仮説に仮説を重ねていくと、一体何か仮説で、何が実証実験で確かめられたものなのかの区別がつかなくなってしまいます。何か仮説であって、そのもとになっている観察事項なのかを考えていくと、この騒動の本質が見えてきます。
