If you are going to make a long range shot on an animal, you must use a spotter or recording equipment with a spotting scope. After the rifle kick it is just too easy to completely lose the animal. My friend never saw the buck after he pulled the trigger until he walked up on it an hour later. Also, a recorded video or pic of hillside helps with finding the animal when looking for it in the trees and brush.
