I used Sculptris Pro, inside of Zbrush, to quickly and easily drum up the basic forms. Then, I can start working on the volumes, adding big feet, little grippy-hands, teeth, and eyes. There's alot of creative freedom, when you can have all these elements changing size, position, and shape, morphing them together to achieve the desired form for the toon model. Fun fo me.
