STEEL WOOL

A GREAT tinder source to use is STEEL WOOL. It has to be very fine, I was using #0000 during this video. It lights up fast, and burns in excess of 5000 degrees (F). It is readily accessible from most retail outlets that carry cleaning supplies and has other uses besides just tinder (ie cleaning the bore a shot gun or scrubbing your dishes after dinner in the field).

The STEEL WOOL will take a spark from a FERRO ROD like a champ, and is one of a handful of easily obtainable items that will take a spark from a flint and steel kit.
