As we move on in the book of Judges, the nation of Israel, and the Judges are getting worse. In this episode, we look at Abimelech. Abimelech is Gideon's son by his concubine. He self-appoints himself as leader of Israel by staging a coup, and violently killing 69 of his brothers who were ahead of him as heirs! A leadership started by cheating, corruption, and crime, can't be good. And it's not. As usually happens with the wicked, their sinfulness and corruption prove to be their undoing.
