In and around 1933, the descendants of the pioneers of early American history living in the Tennessee Valley were faced with ruin as the decades of erosion destroyed a once fertile land. The Tennessee Valley Authority was created to simultaneously dam up the rivers in order to control effects of flooding and drought and to teach the farmers contour farming instead of the traditional way which caused the erosion. This is the story of how it happened.
