Alex Chilton was a well known artists on the Memphis, Tennessee music scene. He had been in The Box Tops (the band had a hit with The Letter) and Big Sky as well has having a solo career.

He recorded this album on 5 April 1985 at Ardent Studios (now demolished) in Memphis, Tennessee.
