Peter is a fascinating individual that I think many of us can relate to. He was expecting a new kingdom to show up. He was expecting Jesus of Nazareth to overthrow Rome, and therefore, reestablish the Kingdom of Israel under the lineage of King David.
This isn't what happened though. it could have ended very bloody very quickly, but Jesus of Nazareth calmed everyone was showing compassion and love.
