Don Fotheringham
Don Fotheringham was 16 when the Japanese struck Pearl Harbor. He joined the Marines and fought in the Marshall Islands, and later (on his 18th birthday) landed on Iwo Jima where an extremely fierce
battle took place. For heroic service on Iwo he received the Bronze Star medal.
During the war Don discovered that much of our foreign policy did not exactly favor the United States. Reflecting on the tremendous price our military paid for freedom, he returned home determined to find out why American policy was so un-American.
This led him to enroll at the University of Utah as a Political Science major. He was surprised to get no real answers at the university. It was not until Don attended a lecture by Ezra Taft Benson that
he came to understand the basis of our country's problems.
Don served an LDS mission, is a former teacher at Snow College, a member of The Academy of Political Science, and author of The President Makers.
