Elephant Milk Study

Two of the San Diego Zoo Safari Park's elephant moms—Umngani & Ndulamitsi—are part of a study to determine the content of their milk. The hope is to develop an improved “recipe” for milk substitutes for hand-reared calves in zoos, as well as at Reteti Elephant Sanctuary Community United for Elephants in Kenya.
