How to Make The Best Old Fashioned Cocktail - Classic vs. Smoked

In this very first episode in my Making Cocktails at Home series I show you how I make the best classic and smoked Old Fashioned cocktail. The Old Fashioned cocktail is the original concoction of spirits, sugar, water, and bitters. It was once called “bitter sling”. In this video, I show you how I make this delicious classic cocktail in its "original" early 1800's form per the International Bartenders Association recipe ( I know there was no ice for the average joe in the early 1800's) as well as a more modern Smoked Old Fashioned Cocktail using my custom "Smokin' Lew" cocktail smoker. BOURBON OLD FASHIONED
2 oz. Bourbon Whiskey
2-3 dashes of Angostura Bitters
1 Sugar Cube
Dash of Water
Orange Slice/Zest and Cherry for Garnish

TODD'S SMOKED OLD FASHIONED
2 oz. Rye Whiskey
2-3 dashes of Angostura Bitters
2-3 dashes of Orange Angostura Bitters
1 tsp Simple Syrup
Orange Slice/Zest and Cherry for Garnish

Smoke for 1 minute using smoker or other smoked cocktail technique

*Note: I use a custom smoker and custom Grand Marnier Liqueur infused wood chips, but there are others and simpler ways to smoke your cocktail, which you can find with a simple Google search.
