ACKNOWLEDGEMENT:
When I rededicated my life to Christ, Dr. "S.M." (Shadrach Meschach) Lockridge baptized me and later licensed and ordained me as a Baptist Minister. I will never, ever forget my "Father In The Gospel!"
DESCRIPTION:
There is no greater hope in history…
Igniter Media: "The story of Jesus Christ’s crucifixion is one of betrayal, brutality, despair, and pain. Yet we know even before His death that redemption was promised to be coming soon. We know that the story does not end at the cross. However, we also know what many did not realize that Sunday's comin'. Celebrating Resurrection Day (i.e., Easter) means rejoicing in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus and recognizing what each of those events can teach us about the character of God. Be reminded of this truth during Easter: God has worked, is working, and will work through all things, even now as we find ourselves awaiting his return."
SCRIPT:
It’s Friday
Jesus is praying
Peter’s a sleeping
Judas is betraying
But Sunday’s comin’
It’s Friday
Pilate’s struggling
The council is conspiring
The crowd is vilifying
They don’t even know
That Sunday’s comin’
It’s Friday
The disciples are running
Like sheep without a shepherd
Mary’s crying
Peter is denying
But they don’t know
That Sunday’s a comin’
It’s Friday
The Romans beat my Jesus
They robe him in scarlet
They crown him with thorns
But they don’t know
That Sunday’s comin’
It’s Friday
See Jesus walking to Calvary
His blood dripping
His body stumbling
And his spirit’s burdened
But you see, it’s only Friday
Sunday’s comin’
It’s Friday
The world’s winning
People are sinning
And evil’s grinning
It’s Friday
The soldiers nail my Savior’s hands
To the cross
They nail my Savior’s feet
To the cross
And then they raise him up
Next to criminals
It’s Friday
But let me tell you something
Sunday’s comin’
It’s Friday
The disciples are questioning
What has happened to their King
And the Pharisees are celebrating
That their scheming
Has been achieved
But they don’t know
It’s only Friday
Sunday’s comin’
It’s Friday
He’s hanging on the cross
Feeling forsaken by his Father
Left alone and dying
Can nobody save him?
Ooooh
It’s Friday
But Sunday’s comin’
It’s Friday
The earth trembles
The sky grows dark
My King yields his spirit
It’s Friday
Hope is lost
Death has won
Sin has conquered
and Satan’s just a laughin’
It’s Friday
Jesus is buried
A soldier stands guard
And a rock is rolled into place
But it’s Friday
It is only Friday
Sunday is a comin’!
FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION:
Three Days And Three Nights
---------------------------
Jesus said: Luke 13:32 "Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today [Friday] and tomorrow [Saturday], and the third day [Sunday] I reach My goal."
God said to Moses: "Go to the people and consecrate them today [Monday] and tomorrow [Tuesday], and let them wash their garments; and let them be ready for the third day [Wednesday], for on the third day the Lord will come down on Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people." Exodus 19:10-11
The Road To Emmaus: Luke 24:1,13,21,46
--------------------------------------
Irrefutable Proof Jesus Rose On Sunday . . .
Scripture: Luke 24:1
"But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the tomb, bringing the spices which they had prepared."
Comment: The entire events of Lk 24 occurred on Sunday, the "first day of the week".
Scripture: Luke 24:13
"And behold, two of them were going that very day to a village named Emmaus, which was about seven miles from Jerusalem."
Comment: "That very day" = Sunday and refers back to Luke 24:1
Scripture: Luke 24:21
"But we were hoping that it was He who was going to redeem Israel. Indeed, besides all this, it is the third day since these things happened."
Comment: "It is the third day" since Jesus was crucified and placed in the tomb. This was the day the two men were expecting Jesus to rise from the dead. This was their day of expectation.
Scripture: Luke 24:46
"He said to them, "Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and rise again from the dead the third day"
Comment: This is not connected directly with the men on the road to Emmaus, but Luke, through inspiration of the Holy Spirit has now referred to the third day, FOUR TIMES!
