dog in the sea, jumping slowly.
Contrary to what many believe, not all dogs were born to swim. The specimens with short legs, a flat or small snout and a broad chest in comparison to the rear have difficulties to float. That is, if you own dog breeds like Pug, Bulldog and Dachshund keep an eye out. They are not good swimmers and cannot stay in the water without monitoring.
On the other hand, some breeds stand out as excellent swimmers. Dogs of this type have developed mechanisms that help them at that time, for example, long, strong limbs and legs with membranes similar to fins. In addition, they already have a history of catching objects in the water and helping owners with water tasks.
Were you interested in meeting the swimming dogs? We selected six breeds that are great in environments that involve water.
