Major outbreak in India recently and we're opening up?

Are we back to square 1? This whole thing reminds me of the China 2019 outbreak. I know there has been new rules in place since the pandemic started but it seems like we haven't learned to be cautious. There are major outbreaks in Brazil & India effecting those who have been vaccinated. If it comes here, will it be because of the pressure to open everything up?
