Big Tech: Do as I Say, Not As I Do

Tech companies that made Black Lives Matter pledges have fewer Black employees than companies that kept their mouths shut. With today’s ALG Minute, I’m Catherine Mortensen. In another case of liberal hypocrisy, a new study finds that tech companies that lectured the rest of us on equity, white privilege, etc, don’t practice what they preach. Turns out companies that didn’t jump on the BLM bandwagon are actually more diverse than the phonies who released public pledges to promote racial justice in the wake of George Floyd’s death last summer. The woke companies had 20% fewer Black employees on average than companies who remained silent. The finding highlights a gap between what companies say about social issues and what they do in their own workplaces. This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. It’s called Projecting. It’s when you attribute your own unacceptable traits onto another. Projection allows the difficult trait to be addressed without the individual fully recognizing it in themselves.
