20210528 By Your Rules (Autism) - The Daily Summation

Back when I first started dealing with Autism in a personal way, the "lessons" came fast and furious. These days, there are not nearly as many surprises or things to understand (since I was dosed with them early on)

That said, one of the most important things I can tell OTHERS about Autism is, "Don't expect Autistic folks to live by your rules."

I'm not saying you CAN'T do that, and sometimes, they have to get over whatever they choose and DO EXACTLY THAT.

As for my son, whenever we can "get away with it," I let him live by his own rules, and work from his own mindset.

On the one hand, it makes things a little more difficult for him. On the other, it means I'm not forever telling him to adjust to the rest of the world. That alone, saves both of us a TON of frustration.

He's weird (in a good way) and wonderful. In short, HE'S MY BOY!

That's what I discuss in this edition of The Daily Summation from Kurt's Religion and Politics.

When I'm able to complete the companion article on the Kurt's Religion and Politics blog, I'll post a link to it here.
