The Ass is a domestic subspecies of the African Wild Ass. It is a perissodactyl mammal of the Equidae family, whose popular name is donkey, donkey, jerico, donkey or even domestic ass. Of medium size, snout and long ears, it has been used since prehistory as a pack animal.
