Xidi is a village in Xidi Town, southeast of Yi County, southern Anhui Province. Xidi Village was designated as the key cultural relics protection unit of Anhui Province in 1986, and was announced as the fifth batch of national key cultural relics protection units by the State Council of the People's Republic of China in 2001. The 24th UNESCO World Heritage Committee meeting held in Cairns, Australia on November 30, 2000 decided to include the ancient villages of Xidi and Hongcun in southern Anhui in China on the World Cultural Heritage List. This is the first time that houses have been listed in the world Heritage list. On October 8, 2003, it was announced that it was approved as the first batch of Chinese historical and cultural villages; in 2011, it was rated as a national 5A-level tourist attraction. The Michelin Travel Guide also praised the exquisite houses with unique architectural styles and rated Xidi as the highest highly recommended (Highly recommended) level
