The party had been planned
invitations sent
Cake has been ordered
up went the party tent

Guests began arriving
gifts piled on the table
Drinks being poured
musicians sang a fable

Out came the cake
singing did commence
blow the candles out
waiting in suspense

All the pageantry meant nothing
tied up in a pretty bow
The real gift was given
when friendships really show

Memories of the smiles
will last throughout the year
These are the best gifts
to be held so close and dear
