Holding the IRS Accountable

In early 2010, under the Obama Administration, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) began targeting conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status. Why? Simply because of their names, viewpoints, and values. Non-profit organizations with “Tea Party,” “Patriots,” or “9/12” in their name were singled out. These groups’ constitutional rights were violated and they faced bureaucratic intimidation and discrimination. Many felt powerless, that is until they reached out to the ACLJ.
