Do cats understand mirrors? Maybe. The extent of the cat's self-awareness is still a mystery. Despite all the wisdom, when the cat paces back and forth in front of the mirror, he is probably not admiring his silhouette. He is trying to figure out who the stranger is that is too close for his comfort.
