Green dung beetles

The Green dung beetles are between 1/2 and 1 inch long and overall metallic blue- green and copper. The front of the head is flattened and golden bronze. The Green dung beetles are many consider this beetle a living African jewel because of its metallic green exoskeleton. Like all beetles, the green metallic scarab beetle has hardened fore wings called elytra. In scarabs and many other beetles, the elytra protect the delicate hind wings, used for flaying.
