On COI #95, Kyle and Will update the progress of the negotiations between the US and Iran in Vienna, where the two sides are meeting for indirect talks to revive the 2015 nuclear deal. While there have been some promising developments, public statements from the US have not inspired confidence in Biden's willingness to break with the aggressive policies of his predecessor.

A Florida court has concluded that police officers can conceal their names from the public after they shoot suspects, so long as they argue that they were themselves the victim of a crime. The court overturned a previous ruling which found that it would not be appropriate for police, as public officials, to hide their identities. Maryland's Democrat-controlled legislature also passed significant police reforms last week, over the veto of Governor Larry Hogan.

Biden has unveiled an early proposal for the 2022 Pentagon budget, coming in at a whopping $715bn for the base budget alone. The move appears to confirm previous reporting that Biden would not start a fight over military spending and would largely keep budgets at the sky-high level set under Donald Trump – still outdoing the world's next 10 largest military budgets combined.
