Kenya (part of the British East Africa Protectorate) was declared a British colony in 1920. Official national anthem was ā€œGod Save the King/Queenā€, ā€œLand of the Lionā€ was song of Kenya.
Kenya attained independence in 1963 and was declared a republic in 1964.
