Joseph McCarthy is recorded by historians as a nutcase who didn't know anything about truth or reality. You know what he said in the 1950s? That our government was infiltrated with anti-civilization leftists. He called them communists, I call them Demokkkrats. He was right. And it's only gotten worse since he was destroyed by Ike and all the other "reasonable" people.
