The Government Doesn't Care About Your Sacrifice

Afghanistan has fallen to the Taliban. That headline, which you have undoubtedly been seeing on every news outlet, has worse meaning than is readily apparent.

I have personally had friends and family go off to fight in the 20 year long war. We like to compare it to Vietnam, but Vietnam was largely fought by draftees. Every life lost in this war was given voluntarily. They all believed in the cause for which they were fighting.

How has the nation's leadership felt about that sacrifice? Apparently they don't even care. They let Afghanistan fall, they have thrown all of that sacrifice in the garbage. They have humiliated the United States, and given China/Russia incredible material for propaganda use.

For those of us who did not go overseas to fight in this war, they have taken our tax money, trillions of dollars worth of it, and left it all in the desert like trash. They left all of that equipment, equipment that our hard work bought, to the Taliban.
