Tenon goes in 2 1/2 inches, glued and clamped both ways and trim head screw at bottom. The ballusters are double dowel, this style looks cleaner than a plow and a little sturdier. Anyhow hopefully this helps someone and stay tuned for more finish carpentry tips and pointers.
