Education problems and solutions

We all know that the United States education system is not the best and yet we spend more on it than almost every other nation in the world. Our kids and adults don't know enough about history, science, math, English or civics. So we have a large bureaucracy that stomps out people's ability to think for themselves and gives them nothing back except a lack of knowledge and little hope for the future.
