Raoul Pal - Why I am Buying More Bitcoin And Ethereum

I am still pro-Bitcoin, and many things have changed for me. My first investment in Bitcoin was in 2012 when it went up 100% a month, but I sold it. Then, I bought it again from 2013 to 2017, but I also sold it out too early into the bull market. I didn't understand it very well, and I thought it could fail. I've been following the space for a while, and I was out of it until 2019 when a good friend of mine persuaded me all over again. So, I started doing the work on it again. Then, the point came, as I always knew that the macro world of investing with too much debt and aging demographics coupled with the problem with the financial need would necessitate the need for crypto. I saw crypto as the solution.

But as soon as the recession came, crypto collapsed. And I said, "this is the time to get in." So, I started buying back in March 2020, and I was all Bitcoin. And I realized this was the single best opportunity we were ever going to be given in our lifetime. And I invested every single penny I had in Bitcoin. The chart pattern also signaled a bullish trend.

In September, I started realizing that if you ever talk about anything, not Bitcoin, you get attacked on Twitter. But I started looking at the chart of Ethereum, and I figured out Ethereum followed Metcalfe's Law adoption model. I realized Ethereum has a faster network adoption model than Bitcoin. Ethereum has more apps, developers, and volumes of people using it. So, I decided to get exposure to it. Then, I weighed a basket of 10 different large protocols, exchanges, and Defi.

Regarding my experience about life, travel has changed my life. There's a world of comfort zone where nothing happens because you go through your daily routines. And there's a world outside the comfort zone where all the magic happens. I've traveled to ridiculous places, having ridiculous adventures, driven from Budapest in Hungary down to Mali in Central Africa in a rally across the Sahara, the mountains, and the hills, delivering humanitarian aid to villages in Mali. I've driven across the Sinai and Arabian deserts. I've climbed the Himalayas. I've dived with 1,000 sharks at a dive in the Galapagos. But what you'll meet is the beauty of the world.
