TOP TEN Thinkers worthy of Respect - #9: Heinrich Heine

And we continue with our "Respect" series! Here is the second part of our TOP TEN of the people I respect most and which have shaped me significantly.

On number # 9 we find one of the most important German thinkers, namely Heinrich Heine! He was not only one of the greatest poets in the world, he also influenced journalism through the establishment of the feuilleton, and was met with hostility from all sides as a freethinker all his life. He should serve as a role model for everyone who cares about freedom of expression and journalistic ethos. And there are indeed some parallels between things that have happened to him and today's events.
