Why Pfizer never made a herpes vaccine?

How many diseases can we cure if Pfizer made vaccines? The flu shot was 23% effective last year. The year before that it wasn't better. Seems like vaccines never worked. Now that Pfizer figured out the secret sauce to make an effective vaccine then we should be expecting one for cancer and herpes.
