Nine-Banded Armadillo

This "armoured" mammal is a nine-banded, long-nosed armadillo. These armadillos live in South America, Central America, and North America, including the southeastern United States. They are insectivores that eat mainly ants, termites, and other small, invertebrate creatures. They are solitary, mainly nocturnal, and burrow in the ground.
