This song is an Allegory for the dichotomy within us of the Left Hemisphere of the Brain and the Right...the Left is ruled over by your Ego and represents Satan's, Hell on Earth, while the Right Brain is Heaven Upon Earth, where we surrender, willingly, all problems and all decisions to God, via the Son of Man, Jesus Christ, Within us...

Thus, in the song, the first half (I'm Your Captain) sees us adrift at sea, Lost, with our Ego in control, and where we are desperately seeking for a Sign from God, a Eucatastrophe, where a miracle appears so that we can find shore once more...and this Miracle is the Son of Man, Jesus Christ, within us as Christ Consciousness...and when we say, "No" to Evil and ask Christ our Lord into our Lives, to make Peace out of Chaos, and to become the Real Captain of our Vessel, then it happens...then, and only then, do we begin to see that we are getting "Closer to Home" (the 2nd part of this brilliant song)...and Home is HEAVEN UPON EARTH where we exist, always, within the Right Hemisphere of our Brains...so...
