Doyenne

the roots of my heart are tethered deep
love is a binding force of which I keep
bonds can be broken and mended again
wisdom lessons from a wise doyenne

pain in life forges new found strength
my heart defends love to any length
conflicts within the boundaries of my mind
wander to a place which can be unkind

grace and forgiveness again makes me whole
mending the pieces where doubt entered my soul
there is more to life than we can ever really know
release from your burdens in order to grow

truth can get ugly and can discourage my days
move through learning of the misbegotten ways
the howling wolves beckoning for my very soul
my unwavering beliefs now see who is in control

lessons long learned from the wisest of the wise
now come full circle for I have opened my eyes
experiences teach much if we go deep and listen
gems seen in wisdom’s garden ever faintly glisten
