The Shroud of Turin has long mystified the world, pitting faith against science. Is the ghostly image impressed on a burial cloth truly the face of Jesus? In 1898, Secondo Pia was the first man to photograph the Shroud of Turin, the burial cloth believed to have covered the body of Christ after his crucifixion. Pia mad a startling discovery: his photography plate revealed the detailed image of a man. The shroud had created a photographic negative of the face and body of Christ. This video examines skepticism over the shroud's authenticity, debunking scientists who recently claimed that it could not be more than 600 years old. Those who believe it's authenticity trace it's origins to a much earlier date. The shroud began it's long journey around the Mediterranean to Turin, Italy, where it has drawn millions from around the world for centuries. Even now, scientists have found that there is still much we don't know about this most controversial artifact in history.
The scientific evidence of the Shroud's authenticity is overwhelming. Further, now that the image of the man imprinted on the shroud can authentically be proven to be of supernatural origin. The shroud show the body of the crucified Christ. With the invention of photography, the image becomes a remarkable photograph. A black and white image actually produces a positive print. The evidence confirms the image to be that of Christ at the very moment of resurrection. Jesus Christ, the Word who is called "the True Light", reflects the ancient thought that the "Primeval Light" was hidden within the word of God himself. At the moment of resurrection, the Primeval Light, (i.e. the Holy Spirit), burst forth from within and brought his body back to life and imprinted his image onto the cloth. The image exhibits not only facial features, but also the skull, the sinus cavities and the roots of his teeth... all of this from an unearthly light that had to eminate from within. All of this evidence points to the frightening reality that there is an afterlife and destiny that each and every human being must shun, for the man whose image is imprinted upon the cloth spoke of an eternal fate that can only be avoided by personally receiving him through faith and being "born again." This powerful evidence serves to prove that each and every man and woman must choose between Heaven or Hell as the destination of their immortal soul.
