Elephants in their native environment

Only the natural habitat of these huge animals. Many animals, and not only mammals, prefer to live together. They unite in groups, herds, flocks. This makes it easier to get food, hunt, defend against enemies, or help each other. And not every such group necessarily has a leader. For example, giraffes prefer to live in loose groups, where everyone can be in charge. In the wolves pack strict obedience to the leader. The head of the wolf pack is a strong male and his female. Elephants live in family groups. In elephants, mothers take care of their children until they are 10-15 years old. Females sometimes leave the herd to find a mate and then usually return. But adult males who have reached puberty (14-15 years old) are expelled from the herd. Such males live alone or in company with other males, or stay for a short time in family groups of females with calves. However, even the largest male never becomes the leader of a herd of elephants. Elephants are matriarchy. The head of the family group of elephants is an adult experienced female. And everyone in the group is connected with it by family ties (children, grandchildren and, even, great-grandchildren).
