This mount is aluminum and very well made. It's compatible with Arca style quick mounts or a standard 1/4" tripod screw.

You can even mount this flat by using the 1/4" screw holes on the back, or use the screw holes on the back for other attachments.

There's a level and a cold shoe on the top as well. Use the cold shoe to mount microphones or lights.

It's perfect for mobile photography, videos, or live streaming with your device, OR when you need to mount your iPad or tablet to control other devices like you can do with Filmic Pro on your iPhone, and control it with your iPad.

The minimum size is about 5 inches and it extends to just over 9 inches.
You could use this to mount a smart phone if you mounted it vertically, but this mount is really for tablets like iPads, Amazon Fire, Android tablets, some Surface tablets, etc...
