Elephants that are no longer considered wild have been domesticated, and they require the same level of care and attention as other home pets. If elephants are released into the wild, it will be nearly impossible to connect with them like we do at Elephant Jungle Sanctuary. The mud spa and elephant bathing are just ways for us to demonstrate the elephants that we genuinely care about them. The mud spa, also known as an elephant mud bath, is a means for elephants to establish a natural protection on their skin that keeps them clean. Because elephants' skin is sensitive, they enjoy being clean, hence elephant bathing is prevalent in Thailand.Mud baths are also beneficial to elephants because they protect their skin from sunburn.
