The police are now very impressive. After infiltrating the telegram groups, and allegedly having undercover cops pretending to be protesters, they have been out in force playing a game of cat and mouse all morning, but in this game the cats, that are armed to the teeth and not afraid to open fire, appear to outnumber the mice.
Today, behind Northcote Shopping Centre a crowd formed, in the hope of being big enough to become a protest. But despite new protesters arriving, the police pounced, filling the shopping centre with their heavily armoured riot officers and swarming over the park, demanding to see the identification of everyone there, and arresting those who were out of their zone.
Is this the end of the every day protests?
Have those Melbournians who were compelled to protest against the mandatory jabs, lockdowns and segregation, conceded defeat?
Has the overuse of force, worked?
Do the majority of Melbournians actually want a more authoritarian Government, or do the protesters need to re-organise?
If that’s the case, how do they do that when every organiser the police identify gets charged with incitement and thrown in jail?
Is it time to accept that this plan of Dan’s is the inescapable future for our city? A city divided by a medical apartheid, where freedom is a status earned through a needle.
