Shark vacuum roller brush belt rubbing through side plastic repair solution

Have had this Shark vacuum very long and the from roller belt rubbed a hole through the side plastic. I could find the replacement part so I decided to find a solution. Cutting out a small piece of medal solved the issue. The metal will prevent the belt from coming out in the future. The friction of the belt melted a hole though the plastic.
